My mom is the best mom in the whole wide world, so I couldn't give her some plain, old ordinary Valentine's Day gift. No, I needed to find a Valentine's Day present as special as she is. Well, she has always been wishing for a horse to be in her driveway on Christmas morning. Sense we are so far from then, I’ll just give it to her on Valentine’s Day. So, I will need a beautiful, hmm, bay gelding, a trailer, and someone to bring the horse to our house. My mom already has the trailer, and my dad can drive it, and now all we need is a horse. There is one for sale at a good price at our barn. I will just ask my dad to help me pay for it. It will be a family gift, but my idea!
ONE MONTH LATER…
“Hurry, dad! Her alarm is about to go off!”
“I’m going as fast as I can. I don’t want to scare the horse!” That drive on Valentine’s Day morning took forever. When we finally got home there was just one more minuet until mom’s alarm went off. When it did, dad and I acted like we had been outside playing for a while.
“What are you guys doing playing outside at this hour?” She asked tiredly.
“Just waiting for you to get up so we can show you something!” I told her with a smile a little too big. We walked around the corner and, with a gasp, mom saw the gelding; it’s fur gleaming in the morning sun.
“Do you like him?” Dad and I asked at almost the exact same time.
“I LOVE him! how did you pull this off?” She asked us.
“With a little Liza AWESOMENESS!” I yelled. That was the best Valentine’s Day EVER!
"It's just a regular checkup, Liza." I told myself as I walked into the doctor’s office. After a few minutes of waiting, signing papers, talking with people, and waiting some more, a doctor called me to room 14. My heart began to pound as I drew closer to the room with every step. "Hey, Liza! How are you today?" My doctor, Dr. Adam, exclaimed with a smile...as always. "Good," I shakily replied, "So what are we going to do today?" "Just a regular checkup, but I am also going to give you a flu shot." I was glad I was at the doctor’s office, because I think my heart stopped. "Okay." Well, my heart didn’t stop then, but it will when I see the needle! The checkup flew by, but I was still dreading the needle. "Okay, now time for the shot. You will only feel a little pinch...it doesn't hurt!" Dr. Adam said even THAT with a smile. I didn’t reply; I was too busy trying to stop my heart so I didn’t have to do this. Time to come up with the craziest story EVER! "You're not going to believe this, but last week I was bungee jumping off of a cliff and the line broke and I fell..." "Hmm..." I could tell Adam knew I was lying. "...And broke my arm!" So fake! "I'll just give you the shot in the other arm then!" That was it I was done for, but I said the first thing that popped into my head. "Both arms! I have to go get them checked, so no shot today! Oh, and it would hurt a lot to give me a shot in a broken arm, right? I mean, so I will just skip the shot this year!" "Why didn’t you just say that you don’t want a shot?" He asked, curiously. Why didn't I say that? "That story is true!" "I'll give it to you next week then." He sighed. I took it! With some more signing of papers and more talking to people, I was finally out and leaving the doctor’s office, for a while...
I wish I never could get sick. I would love if I never got sick because I would always feel good and never have to get a flu shot! Riding in cars and not getting motion sickness, like I always do, is another beneficial piece to this. I could also go on long car rides, comfortably, and read along the way. Another part to this wish is I could go outside and not have to worry about the weather. If my family could have this benefit, too, then that would make it much better to never get sick.
